Last Sunday, March 18, 2012 was a fulfilling day with the Nacino Family, having shared gifts to some kids at the Cancer and Hematology Center of the Philippine Children’s Medical Center in Quezon City.
It has been a tradition for the Nacino Family to spend Rocco’s and Kyle’s birthdays through charity work – Rocco will be turning 25 on March 21, while Kyle’s turning 18 on the 24th. The family has continuously been receiving blessings for the past years and they couldn’t think of something more special to do than to pay forward these blessings to the less fortunate through gift-giving.
|Gifts include bags, colognes, soaps and some food and chocolates.|
An added reason for the family to celebrate and give back was Rocco’s most recent achievement in his young showbiz career, having been chosen in the 28th PMPC Star Awards for Movies as the Best New Actor for his brilliant portrayal in last year’s Cinemalaya entry, Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa. He claims that the recognition by the Philippine Movie Press Club is an early birthday present to him. He is also nominated for the same category in the upcoming Enpress Society Movie Awards, scheduled this weekend.
He will also start shooting in April for his next big project – an epic movie about an Ilocano folklore hero, Lam-ang (Biag ni Lam-ang). Rocco is quite excited for this project, his first-ever title role, which will be shot entirely in Ilocos. As a preparation, he has already started with his arnis training sessions.
* The moment he saw me at the hospital, he immediately asked my health condition and advised me to find the right meds. Very nurselike approach!! (Actually, I realized while writing this article that whenever we had the chance to talk, our conversation always started about my health. Haha!)
Kyle, on the other hand, is currently in his freshman year as an Engineering student in DLSU-Manila, enjoys his college life and engages in some physical activities such as swimming and judo as well. His good grades and his family’s unconditional love are already enough reasons for him to celebrate and be happy on his birthday.
The young cancer and neuro patients have a special spot in the Nacino Family’s heart since Tita Linda (Rocco’s mom) is a cancer survivor herself. I even caught Tito Ralph (Rocco’s dad) teary-eyed while watching Rocco giving gifts to the young cancer patients, while Tita exclaimed her excitement.
Indeed, this family has a good heart and they truly deserve all the blessings they receive. I’m glad there still are families who are too kind and generous to enthusiastically perform activities such as this, and I’m glad I was able to join them in this genuine and heartfelt cause.
