I Luv U Pare Ko

In the Philippines, romance flicks are expected to be shown in cinemas during the love month. Film outfits produce movies that are usually topbilled by the most famous loveteams. This year, let's welcome the love month by watching a different kind of romance-comedy film starred by a new and exciting pair.

Krix Film Productions, an independent film company, bravely and proudly brings a special kind of love story between two men, who are actually best of friends. Featuring the fast-rising actor Rocco Nacino as Sam, and former child star Rodjun Cruz as Carlo, “I Luv U Pare Ko” basically shows the life, values and hopes of the gay community, especially those who initially hide their true identities or the ones we call as ‘closet gays’.

Sam and Carlo, who are partners in their respective job as insurance agents, consider themselves as best buddies. They are their company’s top agents since they easily sell insurance because of their good looks and charm. However, unknown to Carlo, Sam is discreetly gay and is madly and deeply in love with him.

Sam finds it very difficult to admit his true identity to Carlo, thinking that it might ruin their friendship. Add the fact that Carlo has an extremely negative impression on the gay community. He hates and despises the existence of gay people – he physically hurts them without hesitation.

Rocco and Rodjun with Direk Neal Tan

Watch the full movie to find out how Sam’s problem was resolved – how he finally admitted his sexual preference and his true feelings towards his best friend, and what happened to their friendship after Carlo finds out the truth.

There are twists and surprises in the story which are totally unpredicted. Another surprise (or maybe not) in the movie are the excellent portrayal of the two main actors. Rodjun has grown so much in terms of acting and is perfect for the role of a macho gay-hater. He successfully showed both the emotions of a strong macho guy and a dependable and caring friend. His crying scenes are acted naturally. Rocco, then again, is so fun to watch and is really very effective as a closet and as a loud-and-proud gay. He has once again proven his versatility as an actor in this movie. His comedic timing is truly awesome and admirable. Two thumbs up for courageously accepting the role and showing another piece of your many talents!

Also in the movie who adds up fun and humor are Julio Diaz, Melissa Mendez, Tita Swarding, Marissa Sanchez and Arnel Ignacio. The film is directed by Neal Tan.

The film had its jam-packed premiere night in SM Megamall last February 5 and some of the celebrities who came to show their support were Jonalyn Viray, IC Mendoza, Arron Villaflor and Rayver Cruz. “I Luv U Pare Ko” is rated PG-16 and is now showing in selected SM Cinemas.
