Call Center Girl

After the overwhelming success of her breakthrough in drama, A Mother's Story, Pokwang is now making a comeback doing her real forte, which is, comedy. The comedienne we have all loved, is back in another hilarious, smart and entertaining movie, Call Center Girl.

As part of Star Cinema's ongoing 20th anniversary celebration, the giant film outfit teams up with Skylight Productions and takes us to the interesting world of call center agents. With the Philippines being the top call center and BPO destination in the world, a lot of Filipinos can definitely relate to this movie.

Alex Castro, Enchong Dee, Direk Don Cuaresma, Pokwang, John Lapus, Ejay Falcon and writer, Hyro.

Call Center Girl focuses on the life of Teresa, who had been away from her family for 13 years to support her family's needs by working in a cruise ship. She comes back and finds out that her husband already passed away. Being away from her children for many years, she now faces the problem of reuniting with her children, who had been terribly affected by her absence as a mother.
To win back a good relationship and affection with her children, she re-establishes her life in the Philippines by looking for work and fortunate enough, she landed a job in a call center, which happens to be where her youngest daughter Regina (played by Jessy Mendiola) is also employed. She then sees this as a wonderful opportunity for her to get close to her daughter again. However, Reg, thinking that her mother had abandoned them during their younger years, isn't too happy about this. As they face the daily challenges and stress of call center life, meeting lots of different people with the most diverse backgrounds, Terry and Reg eventually learn from the lives of others, and appreciate the true sense and value of family.

Pokwang admits that aside from her numerous English lines in the movie, she is also challenged with her role as Teresa, as she is committed to give her best as the lead star. Being away from comedy films for quite a while, Pokwang has to prove herself that her comeback is worth everybody's wait. Adding up more pressure was the idea that the role was originally a drama film intended for Sharon Cuneta, but due to Sharon's transfer to another network, it was revised to a comedy film instead, with her as the title holder.
While shooting the film, Pokwang was amused of how call center agents show dedication to their work. With customer satisfaction as their everyday goal, Pokwang was amazed of how agents calmly handle  technical issues and concerns, and how they laugh and treasure each and every minute of their breaks. It was also during the shooting of this movie that Pokwang learned that BPOs and call centers have the most diverse kind of people - no discrimination at how one lives his/her life.

Also in the movie is one of the country's busiest actors today, Enchong Dee, who plays the role of Vince, the team leader, who will eventually be of big help in Terry's quest to win back her daughter's fondness. We've seen Enchong in several hit drama series and in the recent blockbuster movies, Tuhog and Four Sisters and a Wedding. Enchong couldn’t contain his happiness of being part of the movie and of being able to star with the phenomenal comedienne, Pokwang, and shares his good impression of the call center agents. He mentions that being a call center agent is not as easy as it seems - from the graveyard shift to the endless calls; and shares his fascination of how BPOs and call centers entertain people from all walks of life.

Aside from Pokwang, Enchong and Jessy, Call Center Girl also stars John "Sweet" Lapus, Chokoleit, K Brosas, Ejay Falcon, Alex Castro and Arron Villaflor and with the special participation of Jestoni Alarcon. Written by Kris Gazmen and directed by Don Cuaresma, the movie is set to conquer the big screens on November 27, 2013 and will have its premiere night in SM Megamall on November 25, 2013.
