Maja Salvador in You're Still The One

Coming from a family of good actors, Maja Salvador's brilliance in the acting field is not at all surprising. But Maja's family roots definitely has nothing to do with how she achieved her current star status. For someone who's undeniably talented and versatile, Maja obviously has her place in showbiz.

Maja, who is also known as the country's Dance Princess, is certainly one of the busiest actresses today - with a streak of top-rating teleseryes, including the current one with Jericho Rosales and Paulo Avelino, Bridges of Love, and even a recently released 2nd album.

Now, Maja is set to star in a romantic drama with an equally acclaimed actor, Dennis Trillo, You're Still The One. The film is about two people who have always been in love, but struggle to find the right time to finally be together, as they keep encountering each other when they're with someone else. The movie is directed by Chris Martinez and also stars Richard Yap and Ellen Adarna. Maja, during the bloggers' conference (and on almost all interviews I've watched), revealed that she immediately said yes when she was asked to do a movie with Dennis. She didn't even care what kind of movie she would be doing with Dennis, but she nevertheless felt a certain excitement. She even recalled that Dennis was once her crush when she was younger and that she has always been amazed with his acting.

Aside from Dennis being a really good actor, another reason for Maja's excitement was that rare chance of working with an actor from a rival network. Then, she even got more thrilled when she learned about the movie's plot. It was a challenge for her to play another mature role. Though we've seen her several times in heavy drama scenes in her teleseryes (Ina Kapatid Anak, The Legal Wife, and Bridges of Love), Maja states that there's another side of maturity in her role as Elice in the movie, You're Still The One. She will portray Elice, a strong career-oriented lady who has a complicated mind when it comes to love and making decisions for her heart. She believes that everything comes at the right time, but she herself question things coming her way. Maja also loved that through the film, she was able to get to know Dennis even more and appreciate some stuff shared with her by Dennis - his passion for film and art, his drive for learning their craft, his dedication to work and how he would always come to set prepared. And of course, his gentleman gestures.

With fine-caliber actors Maja Salvador and Dennis Trillo, and an unusual love story, You're Still The One is definitely one promising film that Filipinos would surely love. Yes, it is not a love story about the teens and young ones, but it for sure discusses the love problems faced by a lot of people in the real world. Produced by Star Cinema and co-produced by Regal Films, You're Still The One hits cinemas nationwide on May 27.
