EDSA : A Film by Alvin Yapan

The internationally-acclaimed director and Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Futuristic Fiction awardee, Alvin Yapan, has once again committed himself to bringing another meaningful film to the Filipino movie audience, through the advocacy film, EDSA. Director Alvin Yapan, known for his noteworthy contributions in the Philippine independent film industry, with movies such as Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa and Debosyon, has always been reliable when it comes to conveying the Filipino art, culture and tradition through his films - may it be the Filipino ways of the past or the present.
In celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution, Director Alvin Yapan and film producer Madonna Sanchez, have courageously taken the chance of shooting a film in the country's busiest road, where else, EDSA. This is with the intention of raising awareness to majority of the Filipinos on the daily hustle and bustle that the community encounters in this notorious na…

ALDub and More Surprises on TNT Super Panalo Day

A day before the event, my friend Kumagcow messaged me to give confirmation that my request got approved - he got me a VIP Pass for the "TNT Super Panalo Day", to be held in SM Mall of Asia Arena. I would normally decline an invitation for an event in SM MOA Arena, but since I'm an AlDub fan, I, without hesitation, braved the Friday traffic jam from C5 Road to EDSA to SM MOA Arena.
I arrived at the venue and found my seat just a few minutes before the program started, so I was not able to take photos of the artists backstage. Anyway, I was seated near the stage so it was quite easy to take photos of the performers.

"TNT Super Panalo Day" was TNT's treat to their ka-tropas from all over the Philippines, for being 28-million strong - making them the network with the biggest number of prepaid subscribers! Talk 'n Text is now called TNT, because the network no longer limits you to calls and text, but also allows you to browse the internet, and use your fa…

Tandem: The First Great Action Film of 2016

I don't want to leave people the impression that I am giving a good review of the film because one of its lead stars, JM De Guzman, is actually a good friend of mine.
So instead of giving my own review, I asked an office colleague to give her thoughts and opinions on the film.

Here's what she has to say:
"You can say that I was never a good advocate of Filipino movies. Not until today at least, because I just saw a movie that ticks off a lot boxes on my list.
Tandem. Although it talks about what many considers is an unpleasant reality of being on the wrong side of the law, bravely tackles the real issues of criminality and corruption, without capitalizing too much in or trivializing the violence that goes along with it.
It's comforting to know that it made no attempt aggrandize or glamorize the life crime and corruption. But it tried to humanize the characters to the point that anyone can relate to the very real relationship between brothers and value we still put on fam…
